Ford has announced details and pricing for its 2017 Ranger FX4, a special edition based on the Ranger XLT 4x4.

The Ranger FX4 is differentiated by a series of black additions to give the ute a more aggressive look.

The majority of these additions are on the exterior and include 18-inch Stark Grey alloys, black roof rails, black decals on the bonnet and tailgate, as well as ‘FX4’ branded side decals.

A unique black grille design with some fine detail gives the front a little more character and is complimented by a black sports bar, rear bumper, side steps and door handles.

The interior hasn’t been neglected and gets leather accented ‘FX4’ branded seats along with front and rear carpet mats.

Pleasingly, the FX4 is equipped with SYNC 3, the latest generation of Ford’s infotainment software. The system features an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration.

The extra kit does come at a cost. The FX4 starts at $58,915 plus on-road costs for the manual and $61,115 plus on-roads for the automatic. A significant increase of $3500 over the XLT.

The Ranger FX4 will be arriving in dealerships during February.

Let’s start a Car Conversation, are the additions worth the extra cost over the XLT? Do you agree the extra kit gives the FX4 a more aggressive look?
