The 2017 model updates for the popular Navara range aims to take the class-leading fuel efficiency,  performance, comfort, functional interior, and its real-world capabilities for work and leisure to a new level.

With three body styles and three engine options across five model grades, including the addition of the SL dual-cab model, there is a lot to choose from in the Navara stable.

The new Navara will sport the signature Nissan V-motion grille which will flow into the bonnet and mirrored in the tailgate section as it supports the Nissan badge. Daytime running lights and chrome window mouldings should enhance the distinctive aesthetic.

To maintain the performance a range-topping twin-turbo 2.3-litre four-cylinder double-overhead camshaft (DOHC) diesel unit is available. If the two-stage turbocharging, 140kw producing, 450 nm of torque engine seems like overkill there is also a single-turbo diesel unit, producing 120 kilowatts of power and 403 Newton metres of torque available.

Matched with a six-speed manual or seven-speed auto transmission the new Navara aims to find a balance between performance and fuel economy.

To improve handling, ride comfort and off-road capability the Navara dual-cab models have a revised five-link rear suspension package.

Further assisting with the off-road capabilities is Active Brake Limited Slip (ABLS), Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control which make use of the ventilated disc front brakes, rear drum brakes, independent double wishbone front suspension with front stabiliser bar, five-link rear suspension with shock absorber and power steering.

Putting rubber to the road is the assortment of wheels available, from 15-inch steel wheels on the DX to the 18-inch alloys on the ST-X. A full-sized spare wheel is also included.

If you need to carry a load in the rear, an innovative cargo restraint system is provided. It makes use of two channels and four heavy-duty forged aluminium cleats that lock anywhere along the channel to safely tether and secure the load in the rear tub.

Also available on the ST-X is a protective tub liner, alloy sports bar, roof rails and heated door mirrors with power adjustment/folding and integrated LED indicator lights.

On the inside the ST-X and ST both make use of a 7-inch colour touchscreen display, whilst the SL receives a 5-inch colour screen.

In terms of comfort, Spinal Support Front Seats, heated leather-accented in the ST-X, offer optimum comfort with eight-way adjustable power slide, recline and height options as well as power lumbar support.

Dual-zone climate control adds to comfort in the ST-X grade which also includes an Intelligent Key with remote keyless entry, illuminated push button engine start and rear interior lights.

On the king-cab and dual-cab RX, ST, ST-X and the dual-cab SL grades, there is a rear power-sliding glass window operated by a switch on the dashboard.

In the centre console, you will find concealed storage which complements other storage options such as large storage pockets located in the driver and passenger doors, glove box, overhead sunglasses holder and flip-up rear seats with storage area concealed underneath.

Four front row cup holders and two bottle holders for both front and rear rows are an added advantage.

All dual-cab models receive three 12-volt power sockets with the RX, SL, ST and ST-X grades having a fourth, a weather-proof 12-volt power socket in the rear tub. USB and auxiliary ports can be found in the centre console lower storage area for easy access.

Safety has upped the ante with seven airbags and an energy absorbing bonnet to protect those inside and out. Advanced Drive Assist Display (ADAD) is also provided showing multiple screen options in the centre of the dashboard, between the tachometer and speedometer dials, meaning drivers can view information at a simple glance.

For connectivity, Bluetooth phone and audio streaming are included on all model grades with NissanConnect smartphone integration featuring on SL, ST and ST-X grades.

All new Navara models are backed by a three year/100,000km warranty and 24-hour roadside assistance program.
