After months of build-up, pricing has been announced for the 2017 Volkswagen Golf 7.5 range. The range will open at a spirited $23,990 (all prices exclude on-road costs).

The range has been expanded and upgraded seeing the offer of 150 Golf GTI Performance Edition 1 cars, the return of the Golf R Wagon and all-new Golf Alltrack offerings.

Starting with eight grades of Golf 7.5 hatchback and six grades of wagon (including the Alltrack variants) on offer, the new range will launch in the first week of July.

The performance hatchback versions will then be available mid-August. Next to arrive towards the end of August will be the Wolfsburg Editions and finally, in January, the Golf R Wagon will be available.

Volkswagen Group Australia Managing Director Michael Bartsch said, "The Golf is the compact car that all other manufacturers – affordable and prestige alike – seek to emulate."

Mr Bartsch added, "The Golf Mark 7 won World Car of the Year and multiple national titles. The Golf 7.5 range is enhanced in every respect. No doubt other importers will attempt to realign their offerings to compete, as ever they do.

"None of them can match the inherent value of owning a Volkswagen Golf – the world's most sophisticated affordable car. The Golf brings to its price point technologies and innovations that were until recently the preserve of high-end luxury cars."

Golf Hatchback and Wagon

The range kicks off with the Golf 110TSI, it is now powered by an engine rated to output 110kW/250Nm, the 92kW engine has been dropped from the range. Buyers will have the option of a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DSG transmission.

Moving up a level, The 110TSI Trendline utilises the same drivetrain options, however, a DSG transmission is standard on the 110TSI Trendline wagon. Trendline models add rain sensing windscreen wipers, an automatically dimming rear-view mirror, parking distance sensors, front and rear and lumbar adjustment.

The 110TSI Comfortline hatchback and wagon also come equipped with a DSG and brings dual zone climate control, 8-inch audio and navigation system, comfort front seats and chrome interior and exterior highlights.

The Highline hatchback and wagon provides the option of Volkswagen's 2.0-litre 110kW/340Nm turbo-diesel engine mated with a 7-speed DSG.

Golf Alltrack

The new Golf Alltrack range provides entry-level petrol and diesel variants before reaching the Alltrack 132TSI Premium. All three versions of the Alltrack feature Volkswagen’s 4MOTION all-wheel-drive as standard.

Golf GTI

The Golf GTI takes it up a notch with the 2.0 TSI 4-cylinder turbo engine (169kW/350Nm), buyers can opt for a 6-speed manual or 6-speed DSG.

Volkswagen is also offering a Golf GTI Performance Edition 1 that features a 180kW/370Nm 2.0 TSI engine with 7 speed DSG.

Golf R

The flagship Golf R hatchback comes with either 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG. Power will come from a 2.0 TSI 4-cylinder turbo engine (213kW/380Nm).

There is also a Golf R Wolfsburg Edition, available as either a hatchback or wagon with 7-speed DSG.
