Channelling its inner star power the 2018 Fiat 500X range has been revealed with two trim levels, Pop and Pop Star, starting at $24,990 plus on-road costs as well as a special Launch Edition variant.

Fiat has aimed for a crossover vehicle that blends style and space with high-grade materials and top-quality finishes.

As is seen in similar vehicles, the 500X offers a flexible cargo space with the ability to extend the 350-litre luggage compartment via split-fold rear seats. Speaking of seats, the front seats offer wraparound bolstering for added comfort.

When in the driver seat, the instrument cluster is divided into three circular, individually cowled displays with the centre section the location of the 3.5-inch TFT display. There is also a 7.0-inch touchscreen Uconnect system added to the 2018 500X which brings satellite navigation (Pop Star only), Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity as well as voice command function.

To further enhance the infotainment offering a Beats Audio sound system upgrade is available which was developed in collaboration with Beats by Dr Dre. The upgrade includes a premium hi-fi system with a 560W eight-channel digital amplifier.

With safety standards ever increasing, the Pop Star variant now offers more advanced safety features as standard which includes cornering fog lamps, Full-Speed Forward Collision Warning-Plus, Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross-Path Detection, LaneSense Lane Departure Warning-Plus and Adaptive Cruise Control.

Powering the new 500X is a 1.4-litre MultiAir2 turbo engine developing 103kW and 230Nm which is matched with two transmission options that send power to the front wheels. For the entry-level Fiat 500X Pop, the choice of either a 6-speed dual clutch automatic or 6-speed manual transmission is available. The Fiat 500X Pop Star variant is available only with the 6-speed DCT.

Fiat claims the automatic transmission drivetrain uses only 7L/100km with the manual bettering that using only 6.0L/100km.

The new 500X also comes with front and rear independent MacPherson suspension which Fiat claim is engineered with Australian drivers in mind.

Also announced was the release of the 2018 Fiat 500X Launch Edition which is based on the 2018 Pop Star variant. Fiat claim over $5,500 worth of value is added for only a $3,000 premium above the Pop Star variant price.

Additions to the 500X Launch Edition include 17-inch Special Edition alloy wheels, black leather-appointed seating, 8-way and electric lumbar adjust powered driver and front passenger seats, Beats Audio premium sound system and electric folding exterior mirrors.

Six colour options are available - Gelato White, Argento Grey, Cinema Black, Fashion Grey, Venezia Blue and Passione Red which will be limited to 100 units.
