Volkswagen Australia has announced specifications for the long-awaited seven-seat 2018 Tiguan Allspace.

Set to go on sale in July the Tiguan Allspace is now bigger and better and is distinguished from its Tiguan counterparts by a wider rear door, raised bonnet above the radiator grille and a unique side window design rising above the C-pillar.

Of course, the Tiguan Allspace, as the name would suggest, is bigger than the standard Tiguan range measuring in at 4701mm in length (up 215mm) with 106mm more rear overhang. This allows for the third-row seating as well as a boot capacity of 230-litres. The wheelbase is also 109mm longer than the regular Tiguan.

At launch, a range of engine options will be available depending on the grade. Opening the offerings is the Comfortline trim level which will be available with three engine and transmission options. Firstly a 110kW/250Nm turbocharged petrol engine mated to a six-speed DSG and front wheel drive. For more power, there is a 132kW/320Nm turbocharged petrol engine mated with a seven-speed DSG and 4MOTION all-wheel drive. There's also a 110kW/340Nm turbo diesel paired with a seven-speed DSG and 4MOTION all-wheel drive.

Available with the Highline models are two sportier engines, the 162kW/350Nm turbocharged petrol and the 140kW/400Nm turbo diesel, both paired with a seven-speed DSG and 4MOTION AWD.

Specification levels are good with the 110TSI, 132TSI and 110TDI models getting front assist with autonomous emergency braking, pedestrian monitoring, lane keep assist, park assist, multi-collision brake and rear view camera.

Also included on the Comfortline grade is front and rear sensors with manoeuvre braking, electronic tailgate, 8.0-inch Discover Media navigation system, three USB ports, driving profile selection, LED headlights, keyless access and start, 18-inch Kingston alloy wheels, electric folding exterior mirrors, auto headlights, rain sensing wipers, three-zone climate control and front fog lights.
