The long awaited 2018 Volvo XC60 has been priced for Australia ahead of its October launch.

Three variants will be available known as Momentum, Inscription and R-Design for the new XC60.

There are two 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine options available, the D4 which is rated at 140kW/400Nm and the twin-turbo D5 that offers 173kW/480Nm.

Two standard petrol options are available, the T5 2.0-litre turbo that develops 187kW/350Nm and a more powerful T6 that produces 235kW/400Nm as a result of using both a turbocharger and supercharger.

Headlining the range is the T8, a plug-in hybrid option which delivers a combined 300kW of power.

All new 2018 Volvo XC60 models will be all-wheel drive, and all utilise an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The new XC60 will continue Volvo’s commitment to safety. The new car comes packed with safety technology such as steer assist which is part of the City Safety system. The new Oncoming Lane Mitigation system also utilizes the technology as does the blind spot indication system (BLIS). The semi-autonomous Pilot Assist is also included on the features list.

Another feature of the all-new XC60 is the new Clean Zone system which removes harmful pollutants and particles from outside the cabin so only fresh air is delivered inside.

The new XC60 also comes with the driver infotainment system known as Sensus which features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

While value is strong, the XC60 will have its work cut out, with a new BMW X3 looming the premium midsize SUV segment remains extremely competitive.
