The new 2019 Audi A6 Avant has been revealed demonstrating a dynamic design, with greater usability and adaptability.

From the outside, Audi’s new design language is reflected through the distinctive low-profile rear window, sharp lines and large surfaces. A wide, low Singleframe grille adorns the front end whilst a roof edge spoiler extends the silhouette at the rear.

Other external features include trapezoidal window surfaces, distinctively shaped blisters over the wheel housings, a muscular roofline flowing into the low-profile D-pillar, and decorative trim at the rear.

LED headlights are standard with the top-of-the-line variant getting HD Matrix LED headlights whilst an optional contour ambient lighting package is also available.

As well as the usual 12 exterior colour options customers have the choice of optional sport and design exterior equipment lines or the S line exterior package.

For the 2019 model year, the A6 Avant’s proportions have grown. Measuring in at 4.94 meters long, 1.89 meters wide and 1.47 meters in height it offers an even larger interior than the previous model delivering what Audi claims is class-leading front and rear elbow room and rear knee room.

Also offered in the new A6 Avant is a flexible 565-litre boot capacity which can grow to 1680 litres with the rear seats folded down.

Internally, four equipment lines are available each with its own colour concept – sport, design, design selection and S line – over the basic version.

Headlining the interior features is a new black panel surface with an embedded 10.1-inch MMI touch response display screen at the top. The bottom 8.6-inch display controls climate, comfort and text input and is angled slightly towards the driver.

The optional MMI navigation plus system recognises the driver’s preferences and generates intelligent suggestions.

Powering the Audi A6 Avant is a mild hybrid system which is designed to boost efficiency and work symbiotically with the dynamic all-wheel drive system. Specific engines have not been detailed though it could be expected that the 3.0-litre diesel and petrol engines from the sedan counterpart offering 210kW/620Nm and 250kW/500Nm respectively will be available.

Safety systems are extensive including lighting technology, assistance systems and passive safety. Driver assistance systems include standard emergency braking assist and adaptive cruise assist with narrowed road assist.

According to Audi’s press release, the 2019 Audi A6 Avant is currently being evaluated for the Australian market. With the popularity of SUVs, the A6 Advant would struggle to sell in moderate numbers. Watch this space!
