Local specifications and pricing have been revealed for the 2019 BMW X2 M35i, the M Performance model will reach Australia next year, priced from $68,900 plus on-road costs.

The X2 M35i is powered by BMW’s first M Performance 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol which produces 225kW and 450Nm. An M tuned eight-speed automatic transmission sends power to all four corners and there’s a locking differential on the front axle.

Straight line performance is impressive for an SUV of this type, the brand claims a 0 to 100km/h time of 4.9 seconds.

Specifically-tuned M Sport suspension, M Sport brakes and 20-inch M light alloy wheels and an M Sport body kit are all listed as standard equipment.

Inside the cabin, M Sport seats trimmed in Dakota leather, electronic front seats with memory function and lumbar support, heated front seats, an M Sport leather steering wheel, Anthracite roofliner, contactless operation of tailgate, Aluminium Hexagon trim highlights, M35i sill plates and a 360W 12-speaker harman/kardon sound system are all included.

As with the recently refreshed X2 range, the M35i variant also gets BMW’s Navigation System Plus which brings an 8.8-inch colour touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay, a head-up display, front and rear parking sensors, LED headlights with cornering function, cruise control with braking function, dual-zone climate control and BMW Connected+.

BMW will offer the X2 M35i with an Enhance Package that adds metallic paint, a panorama glass sunroof and wireless phone charging for $2900.
