Overpriced ute enthusiasts will be happy to know the wait is almost over, the much-hyped 2019 Ford Ranger Raptor has officially entered production.

Touted as a “high-speed off-road performance truck” the Raptor is built in Thailand alongside other Ranger variants.

The Ranger Raptor will serve as Ford’s flagship ute and will start at $74,990 plus on-road costs. You can read our pricing coverage here.

Ford will use the Raptor to debut a new powertrain that includes a 2.0-litre four-cylinder bi-turbo diesel engine that develops 157kW and 500Nm. There’s also a 10-speed automatic transmission that sends drive to all four wheels. Click here to read the full rundown on the Raptor’s specs.

The new engine and transmission will also be available on higher-spec variants of the wider Ranger and Everest line-ups.
