Pricing and specs are in for the 2019 Hyundai Kona line-up, the new model year sees the range expanded to include a new entry-level Go variant, revised equipment levels and price rises.

The new Go variant ($23,500 plus on-roads) gets automatic dusk-sensing headlights, LED daytime running lights, 16-inch steel wheels, rear-view camera, tyre pressure monitoring system and a 7.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Like the rest of the updated Kona line-up, the Go is available with either a 2.0-litre 110kW/180Nm MPi naturally-aspirated petrol engine teamed with a six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive or a 1.6-litre 130kW/265Nm T-GDi turbocharged petrol, paired with a seven-speed DCT and all-wheel drive.

Go and Active variants can now be purchased with a SmartSense pack for $1500  which adds autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane-keep assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and a driver attention warning.

Ticking the box for the SmartSense pack also brings power-operated folding exterior mirrors with heating function.

Active, Elite and Highlander models get Hyundai’s new 8.0-inch infotainment system with satellite navigation and an 8-speaker Krell premium audio system as standard.

The system also features SUNA live traffic updates with a 10-year map update plan, Bluetooth, DAB+ digital radio and smartphone mirroring tech Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The range-topping Highlander is now equipped with a power-operated glass sunroof as standard. Buyers can forgo the sunroof and opt for a Phantom-Black two-tone roof at no extra cost.

Highlander models also get Hyundai’s Auto Link Premium service which unlocks additional features such as remote engine start from a compatible smartphone,  remote access to doors and climate control, sets geo-fencing alerts and sends emergency alert messages in the event of an accident.

Prices are up over the 2018 model year, Active and Elite models cost an extra $1000, while Highlander variants have seen increases of between $2500 and $3000.
