The new Kia Xceed has been revealed overnight for the European market, at this stage, it isn’t coming to Australia.

Instead, of the Xceed Australia will be getting the new Seltos to fill the small SUV role in Kia’s local portfolio.

Based on the same underpinnings as the Ceed hatch and Proceed wagon, the Xceed measures 4395mm long, 1495mm high and 1826mm wide with a 2650mm wheelbase.

At launch, the Xceed will be offered with a choice of three turbocharged petrol engines including a 1.0-litre 88kW/172Nm three-cylinder unit, a 1.4-litre 103kW/242Nm four-cylinder and a 1.6-litre four-cylinder that’s good for 150kW/265Nm.

Diesel buyers can opt for a 1.6-litre turbocharged unit tuned to deliver either 85kW or 100kW.

Except for the entry-level 1.0-litre unit, all engines can be paired with a choice of six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch transmissions. The base model is exclusively matched with a stick shifter.

Kia has confirmed 48V mild hybrid technology and plug-in hybrid options will join the range towards the end of 2020.
