Local specs and pricing have been announced for the updated 2021 Honda CR-V ahead of a showroom arrival in September.

The range has been trimmed from eight variants to seven while prices have increased by between $2200 and $3200. The entry-level Vi now starts from $30,490 plus on-road costs and peaks at $44,290 plus on-road costs for the VTi LX.

Like the outgoing range, Honda will offer the CR-V in front- and all-wheel drive configurations along with a seven-seat option.

The powertrains are also carried over with the base model Vi getting a 113kW/189Nm 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine while all other grades get the 140kW/240Nm 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol unit. Both are matched to a CVT automatic.

For 2021, all variants powered by the 1.5-litre engine will be equipped with the Honda Sensing suite of driver-assist technologies which includes autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning lane keep assist and radar cruise control.

All models now feature a 7.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The centre console has been tweaked for easier access to phone and USB ports. VTi L and VTi LX models also get a wireless phone charging pad.

Externally, the updated CR-V gets new bumpers, grille, accents and alloy wheel designs, while Ignite Red metallic and Cosmic Blue metallic have been added to the colour palette.

Seven-seat VTi L7 variants also gain LED headlights, LED fog lights, and privacy glass.

The updated 2021 Honda CR-V goes on sale on 1 September 2020.
