Specifications and pricing have been announced for the 2021 Renault Captur with the small SUV pricing starting at $28,190 plus on-road costs.

The Captur is the second model to be built on the brand’s CMF-B platform and will be available in three grades – Life, Zen and Intens.

Dimensionally, the new Captur measures 4227mm long, 1797mm wide and 1567mm tall, with a 2639mm wheelbase.

Although still a small SUV, the Captur has grown in length by 110mm allowing for 17mm more rear legroom and increasing the boot capacity by 81 litres to a maximum of 536 litres.

The rear sliding bench, which can be folded in a 1/3 or 2/3 pattern, can offer an almost completely flat floor when folded down. The movable boot floor can also be used to split the payload volume into two levels, creating more space or a flat loading lip with hidden storage below.

Powering all three variants is a 1.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 113kW and 270Nm. A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic sends drive to the front wheels.

Design changes include a higher waistline, front and rear protection skid plates, chunkier protective mouldings and prominent wheel arch extensions.

There is also a two-tone ‘floating roof’ treatment standard on the Zen and Intens grades whilst all grades get LED headlamps and C-Shape DRLs.

Internally the new Captur adopts the ‘Smart Cockpit’ layout which angles the controls towards the driver and incorporates a floating infotainment screen.

The brand claims higher-grade materials have been used to cover the dashboard, door panels and centre console.
