ANCAP has awarded the full 5-star safety rating to the all-new 2018 Jeep Compass, which now joins the Renegade, Cherokee and Grand Cherokee with the full complement of stars.

ANCAP Chief Executive Officer, James Goodwin, said, “In the frontal offset test which simulates a head-on crash with another car, good levels of head, neck and upper leg protection were provided by the Jeep Compass.”

Receiving an overall score of 35.93 points out of a possible 37 points the Compass performed well with a perfect score for the side impact and pole tests contributing to the rating. The whiplash protection was also rated ‘Good’ which is the highest rating possible.

FCA Australia’s President and CEO, Steve Zanlunghi said, “At Jeep we are committed to safety and are pleased with ANCAP’s 5-star rating on Compass.

We also acknowledge the need to continually evolve our safety and packaging offerings to ensure we are aligned with the highest industry standards. As such, we are pleased to advise that we are making Autonomous Emergency Braking and Lane Departure Warning available across the entire Compass range.”

Over 70 safety features are available on the Jeep Compass including driver assistance controls such as Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), Reversing Collision Avoidance, Speed Assistance, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) and Lane Departure Warning (LDW).

The 5-star ANCAP safety rating applies to all Jeep Compass variants built from September 2017.
