Audi’s flagship A8 limo has taken out the 2018 World Luxury Car award in New York.
 
As decided by a judging panel of 82 motoring journalists from 24 countries, the Audi A8 beat out two other competitors in the final round to claim the ninth overall victory for Audi at the World Car Awards.
 
Other Audi winners include the Audi A6’s 2005 World Car of the Year award, Audi RS 4’s 2007 World Performance Car award, Audi TT’s 2007 World Car Design of the Year award, Audi R8 V10’s 2010 World Performance car award, Audi A3’s 2014 World Car of the Year award and the most successful, Audi R8’s 2008 and 2016 awards for World Performance Car (twice) and World Car Design of the Year.
 
Assessments were based on emotional appeal, passenger comfort and safety as well as environmental aspects such as driving performance, market relevance and price-performance ratio.
 
Peter Mertens, Board Member for Development at AUDI AG said, "The new Audi A8 is an innovation driver for our entire industry. It sets new standards in automotive engineering with its innovative touch control system, consistent, broad electrification and the technical conditions for conditional automated driving."
 
Available since November 2017, the new Audi A8 is currently being manufactured at the Neckarsulm facility. Materials and handcrafted-level of build quality are highlights which show off features such as the HD Matrix LED headlights with Audi laser light, dynamic all-wheel steering and the relaxation rear seat package with foot massage which all contributed to the award win.
