The BMW M8 Gran Coupe Concept has been revealed with a focus on luxury in an ‘ultra-sporty, extrovert and polarising’ way with four doors to boot.

Adrian van Hooydonk, Senior Vice President BMW Group Design, said “The BMW 8 Series will take over as the new flagship model of the BMW line-up and, as such, combines unsurpassed sportiness and elegance.”

As with the previous BMW 8 Series Concept, the Gran Coupe exhibits the new design language which accentuates the dynamism through its bodywork with a low and wide stance from the front, a long wheelbase with a long bonnet and short tail from the side and dynamic from the back.

Drawing on the M car roots a roof made from CFRP (carbon fiber reinforced polymer), which lowers the centre of gravity, and aerodynamically optimised mirrors are found on the Concept M8 Gran Coupe.

A clever Saleve Vert paint finish which appears to change from green to greyish blue depending on the light is contrasted with gold-coloured window graphics, M grilles, gold-coloured brakes, wheel rims and M twin exhaust tailpipes.

No specific details have been released in regards to the interior though it would not be farfetched to think that the M8 Gran Coupe will follow in a similar fashion to that of the Coupe model.

In terms of drivetrain, again details have not been released though considering the M badging it could be assumed a powerful engine will fill the space under the bonnet, something like the 4.4-litre V8 from the M5.

No matter the engine an eight-speed automatic transmission with the xDrive all-wheel drive system is a sure bet.

The BMW M8 Gran Coupe is already confirmed for production with a full reveal to occur in 2019.
