It’s official, the well-received Honda Urban EV Concept will be entering production with the order books opening in early 2019.

Senior Vice President, Honda Motor Europe, Mr. Philip Ross, confirmed the news: “A production version of this highly acclaimed concept will be introduced to Europe during late 2019, and in response to the positive feedback to this model, we expect to open order banks for the Urban EV during early 2019.”

Set to be Honda’s first mass-produced electric vehicle to be sold in Europe, the Urban EV Concept has much to live up to in the EV race.

The Urban EV Concept has a simple yet sophisticated design, with slim A-pillars and wide windscreen, and can accommodate up to four occupants comfortably.

Occupants are seated on two bench seats, each finished in different materials, which is very ‘Simpsons-esque’ though Honda claims the bench seats will create the ‘ambience of a lounge’. The front row bench is upholstered in a natural grey fabric with contemporary wood finish accents.

Other internal details include a wrap-around screen in the dashboard which extends into the doors. The dashboard display will include vehicle information whilst the expended door screens use digital camera displays to act as the car’s side mirrors.

At this stage, it is unclear how much of the Concept’s design will make it into the production version of the car, but we are hopeful it remains true.

Australians keen on the car will need to exercise patience, the Urban EV Concept is only confirmed for European markets.
