LDV has seen its sales increase by 155.6 per cent year-on-year culminating in 511 sales in July.

The Chinese brand is building a strong presence on the back of its commercial range. Sharp drive-away pricing and strong equipment levels are hitting the right notes.

Spearheading growth is the T60 dual-cab ute which accounted for 270 sales last month. While the numbers are small when compared to the Japanese makes, it’s an impressive result given it only entered the Australian ute market at the back end of 2017.

Also performing well on the sales front is the G10 and V80 vans which accounted for 10 per cent of the 2.5 to 3.5-tonne sector which is one of Australia’s largest van segments.

The G10 van sales figures are up 22.1 per cent year to date which almost matches the G10 people mover which increased by 21.4 per cent so far compared to 2017.

Interestingly, LDV has focussed its pricing structure on attracting ABN holders. It’s something different to get a foot in the door.

LDV isn’t the only Chinese badge on the march, sister brand MG is also seeing its numbers rise. To keep sales climbing, both marques need to quickly expand their respective dealer networks.
