Mercedes-Benz has announced the V6 powered X350d dual-cab ute will arrive in Australia in December with prices starting at $73,270 plus on-road costs.

The X350d will be offered in two trim levels: Progressive and Power. Both models will be powered by a 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel engine developing 190kW and 550Nm. Peak torque is available from 1400 to 3200rpm.

Power will be sent to a permanent all-wheel drive through a seven-speed automatic transmission.

For those brave enough to get their Merc dirty, ground clearance is 222mm, wading depth is 600mm with an approach angle of 30 degrees, departure angle of 25 degrees, ramp breakover angle of 22 degrees and a maximum incline angle of 49 degrees.

Mercedes-Benz is quoting a 0-100km/h sprint time of 7.5 seconds meaning it’s significantly faster than Ford’s Ranger Raptor.

Both X350d variants get active lane keeping assist which sends a pulsed vibration through the steering wheel and applies one-sided braking to manoeuvre the vehicle back into its lane automatically.

On top of the four-cylinder specification, the X350d Progressive gets, keyless entry and start, dual-zone climate control and new 18-inch five-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels.

Moving to the Power trim level adds aluminium dash trim, black roof liner and new 19-inch six-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels.

The Power variant opens with a price of $79,415 (prices before on-roads) which easily eclipses the $74,990 Raptor making it the most expensive mid-size ute in the land. The next stop from here is the full-size Ram 1500 pick-up truck, the American behemoth is currently priced from $79,500 drive-away.
