A product recall has been announced for a range of Aston Martin vehicles which have been sold around Australia between 13 July 2004 and 20 June 2016.

Affected models involved in the recall include the DB9, DBS, Virage and Vanquish. Both coupe and volante body styles are subject to recall.

The defect identified in the recall relates to the right side front seat. When the seat is lowered to its fully rearward position the battery supply cable may become compressed by the seat runner. This may cause damage to the battery supply cable.

Reasons stated for the seat to become fully reclined and possible cause damage includes loss of seat calibration, seat calibration not being correctly re-learned and the seat being operated to its fully rearward position on purpose.

If the battery supply cable becomes damaged smoke may appear inside the vehicle with the risk of fire if a combustible material is present.

Owners who have purchased an affected vehicle may be contacted by mail or if a customer thinks they have an affected vehicle they can contact their nearest Aston Martin dealer to arrange an inspection of their vehicle.

The dealer will examine the battery supply cable for damage as well as install a routing block at no cost to the owner.

A list of VINs (Vehicle Identification Number) of affected vehicles can be found on the ACCC website, though a dealer should be contacted to address any customer concerns.
