With the Formula One season upon us Renault has taken the opportunity to launch the limited-edition Clio RS 18 locally.

Named after the Renault Sport Formula One Team 2018 challenger, the Clio RS 18 sports the black and yellow racing colours from the F1 cars.

Modelled on the Clio RS 220 EDC Trophy, the latest offering from Renault Sport channels it’s inner Formula One counterparts and adds its name to the growing number of limited edition Clio RS models that pay tribute to Renault’s Formula One success.

Quentin Audiffren, Clio R.S. Product Manager, Renault Sport Cars, said: “Renault Sport customers share our passion for motorsport. With this limited-edition model – which is based on the technical foundations of the Clio RS 220 EDC Trophy – we are proud to be able to offer them the very best of our engineering expertise. Its sporting credentials are expressed by a number of design flourishes drawn directly from the world of Formula One. The Renault Clio RS 18 is an eloquent illustration of the close bond that exists between our motorsport activities and our road cars.”

Differentiating the Clio RS 18 is special RS 18 badging on the front doors, grey decals and new R.S. double-diamond logo on the roof which is a direct reference to the Renault Sport Formula One Team and the single-seater race car it will run in 2018.

There are also splashes of iconic Liquid Yellow adorning the F1-style front blade, protective side mouldings and wheel centre caps which all contrast against the Deep Black body paint colour.

Also exclusive to the Clio RS 18 is black rear badging, front bumper, Renault diamond and the RS logo on the bumper as well as a Deep Black finish on the diffuser.

Internally the RS-branded door sill sports a unique number and Alcantara/leather trim covers the steering wheel with carbon fibre-effect air vent surrounds. Renault Sport carpet mats are also included.

Powering the Clio RS 18 is the powerful turbocharged 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine boasting 162kW/280Nm with a torque boost function from the Clio RS 220 EDC Trophy. This will be mated with a dual-clutch transmission.

The Trophy chassis has also been lowered and stiffened, the front dampers now incorporate hydraulic compression stops and the steering is sharper and more direct.

A standard Akrapovic exhaust provides the engine note at elevated decibels and provides a dynamic pick-up.

Only 10 examples of the 2018 Renault Clio RS 18 will be available locally starting at $39,990 plus on-road costs.
