Four recalls have been issued this week with half from Mercedes-Benz as well as from Mini and Subaru with a variety of issues that could kill you.

First up, Mercedes-Benz has issued a recall for a range of passenger cars sold between March 1 and April 30, 2018. The issue affects GLA, A-Class, AMG GT, C-Class, E-Class, B-Class and GLC models.

In an issue unrelated to the Takata recall, affected vehicles may eject metal parts from the airbag gas generator housing if the airbag is deployed which could potentially injure occupants of the vehicle.

A free repair is available at Mercedes-Benz dealerships by contacting them and a list of affected VINs can be found here

A separate recall from Mercedes-Benz concerning certain S-Class vehicles sold between November 1, 2017, and February 28, 2018, has also been issued this week.

The vehicles in question may not have had two nuts for mounting busbars in the prefuse box in the boot of the vehicles installed which could potentially increase resistances between the busbars and result in a fire hazard. There is also the risk of the interruption of electrical contact of the busbars causing function failures which could affect the engine and increase the risk of an accident.

Mercedes-Benz is asking concerned customers to contact their nearest dealership to arrange for a free inspection and repair if necessary. A list of affected VINs can be found here.

Also recalled this week was a number of F60 Mini Countryman wagons which were sold between December 30, 2016, and August 13, 2018. Affected vehicles may not have a crash protection plate which is supposed to protect the high-pressure fuel pump in the engine compartment.

An error in the releasing process in an engine production plant has resulted in the crash protection plate for the high-pressure fuel pump not being installed in 3-cylinder petrol engines.

Known owners will be contacted by BMW/Mini Group Australia or a dealer to arrange an inspection and repair. Concerned customers can also contact their nearest service centre, call the Customer Interaction Centre on 1800 813 299, check the BMW/Mini recall website or check here using the VIN to see if their vehicle is affected by the recall.

Last but not least this week is a recall concerning MY10 to MY14 Subaru Liberty and Outback vehicles. The issue at hand relates to the electronic parking brake (EPB) which, if the circuit board fractures, can activate the warning light and prevent the EPB from being applied or released. This could result in an increased risk of injury to occupants of the vehicle and other road users.

Known owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by mail advising them to visit their preferred Subaru dealer to have their vehicle repaired free of charge. Concerned owners can also use their VIN to check if their vehicle is affected by the recall here.
