Mercedes-Benz has announced specifications and pricing for the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S 4MATIC+ SUV and Coupe.

Designed with speed in mind, Mercedes claims the GLC 63 S models will hold the title for Australia’s fastest SUV with the 0-100km/h figure reported at 3.8 seconds. Delivering this acceleration is the familiar AMG 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine which puts down 375kW at 5500 - 6250rpm and 700Nm of torque from 1750 - 4500rpm.

The big V8 is paired with the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9-speed transmission which is known for short shifting with multiple downshifts and the double-declutching function appreciated by many drivers.

Five AMG Dynamic Select drive modes - "Comfort", "Sport", "Sport +", “Race” and "Individual" – are also available which modify the response of the engine, transmission, suspension, steering, ESP and all-wheel drive depending on the driver’s preference and mood, though the “Comfort” setting will be predominantly used for everyday driving scenarios.

It’s not all about the performance though. The new GLC 63 4MATIC+ features the Panamericana grille, previously only seen on the AMG GT sports cars, wide front apron, large front splitter and wider wheel arch claddings at the front and rear giving the car an aggressive look.

Inside the cabin, the GLC 63 S models feature a black nappa leather or DINAMICA microfiber wrapped performance steering wheel, leather-appointed AMG performance seats and an AMG instrument cluster which includes a Race Timer.

There are a variety of optional packages available to customise the new Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S 4MATIC+.

Firstly, the Exterior Carbon Package offers AMG carbon fibre mirror housings and an AMG carbon-fibre rear lip spoiler (on the Coupe or rear lip spoiler extension on the SUV) for $4500.

The AMG high-performance ceramic braking system is also available which features ceramic brakes that are more fade resistant and weigh 30 per cent less than traditional brakes. This is available for $7500.

At the time of launch an ‘Edition 1’ special model will also be available which will feature distinctive paintwork in designo Selenite Magno; yellow sports stripes on the lower door and mirror housing; 21-inch AMG Cross-Spoke alloy wheels in black with a yellow rim flange; large front spoiler, enlarged rear diffuser with diffuser spoiler lip and specific spoiler lip in the rear area in high-gloss black; AMG High Performance Ceramic Braking System; AMG Performance seats in black nappa leather with yellow cross-stitching in diamond pattern; AMG Matt carbon-fibre interior trim; AMG Performance steering wheel in DINAMICA with a yellow marker at the 12 o’clock position; yellow highlights in the instrument cluster; and dashboard and door trims finished in yellow topstitching. The Edition 1 package is available for $10,900.

The Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S 4MATIC+ SUV, excluding on-roads, is priced at $164,900. The GLC 63 S 4MATIC+ Coupe, again excluding on-roads, will be priced at $171,900. Both models should arrive in Australia by the end of 2017.
