Skoda has announced the addition of a new diesel powered variant to the Kodiaq SUV range.

The 2018 Skoda Kodiaq 140TDI, will be propelled by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel engine developing 140kW of power and 400Nm of torque. The fuel consumption rating is impressive at 5.9 litres/100km.

The Kodiaq 140TDI will sit above the 132TSI petrol model and have a sticker price of $48,990 before on-roads are applied.

As with the 132TSI variant, the new diesel model will be all-wheel drive and have a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission as standard.

The 140TDI will also be capable of transporting seven passengers.

For the 2018 model year, both the petrol and diesel models will gain a 9.2-inch digital display with gesture control and DAB+ as standard equipment.

An interesting inclusion is the Sleep Pack, it brings adjustable headrests, much like those found on airlines, for rear seat passengers.
