Mitsubishi Australia has added a new entry-level ES variant to Eclipse Cross SUV range.

The new ES brings the Eclipse Cross line-up to four models – ES, LS, Exceed and Exceed AWD.

Importantly, the arrival of the ES lowers the entry price to the Eclipse Cross range to $29,990 plus on-road costs.

For an entry grade, the ES is well appointed, 18-inch alloy wheels, daytime running lamps, front fog lamps, rear-view camera, DAB+, six-speaker audio system and Smartphone Link Display Audio with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are all standard.

In order to sharpen the price, keyless entry and start, parking sensors, lane departure warning, electric park brake and power folding exterior mirrors have been removed.

As with the existing Eclipse Cross range, the ES is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 110kW and 250Nm matched to CVT automatic transmission with manual shift paddles that drive the front wheels.

2019 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross pricing (excludes on-road costs):

Eclipse Cross ES 2WD - $29,990
Eclipse Cross LS 2WD - $31,990
Eclipse Cross Exceed 2WD - $36,000
Eclipse Cross Exceed AWD - $38,500
