The all-new 2019 Toyota Corolla has been awarded a five-star safety rating from independent crash tester ANCAP.

This latest generation Toyota Corolla scored very well across the four categories achieving 96% for Adult Occupant Protection, 83% for Child Occupant Protection, 86% for Vulnerable Road User Protection and 76% for Safety Assist.

Pleasingly, all variants of the new Corolla offer collision avoidance technologies, including autonomous emergency braking, which is able to detect potential hazards and react or avoid them where possible.

Lane keeping technology also assists in preventing collisions with other road users by detecting if the vehicle deviates from its lane and providing automated steering assistance to correct the lane position if needed.

ANCAP Chief Executive, Mr James Goodwin, commented: “The Corolla is a trusted nameplate and Australia and New Zealand’s highest selling passenger car, so it is encouraging to see this affordable, volume-seller continue to achieve a high safety standard.”

“This result clearly shows safety is not a luxury, with private and corporate fleet buyers able to access high levels of safety as advanced collision prevention technologies become increasingly available.”

The five-star ANCAP safety rating applies to all petrol and hybrid Toyota Corolla hatch variants built from 2018 which are available in Australia and New Zealand.
