If you’re looking for the ultimate Christmas present this year keep in mind that the all-new 2018 Audi RS5 coupe is set to arrive Down Under in December.

With a new chassis, V6 biturbo engine and an array of advanced technology features, the RS5 has a lot to offer.

With performance hoping to outdo the jolly fat man’s sleigh, the RS5 coupe boasts a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 engine with the capacity to produce 331kW of power and 600Nm of torque. This represents a whopping 170Nm increase over the outgoing model. It also means the end of the 4.2-litre naturally-aspirated V8.

An eight-speed Tiptronic transmission with optimised shift times delivers the power to the quattro permanent all-wheel drive system. The torque is split 40:60 with the preference given to the rear wheels. Audi claims the RS5 can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in only 3.9 seconds.

In terms of appearance, the substantial air inlets at the front with the Singleframe radiator grille and quattro blisters on the guards have all been worked to give the Audi RS5 Coupe a pronounced sporty facade. This is carried through with the RS-specific diffuser insert, the oval tailpipes of the RS exhaust system and the surface-mounted spoiler lip.

These features highlight the larger proportions as the Audi RS5 coupe grows 74 millimetres over the previous model.

Rubber is wrapped around 20-inch alloy wheels, which are available in a variety of designs, contrasted against red-painted brake callipers. For further personalisation gloss black, carbon and matt aluminium appearance packages are available.

The very interesting Sonoma green metallic paint finish is available exclusively on the RS5 coupe as well.

Accentuating the luxury feeling of the new Audi RS5 coupe is the RS sport seats with diamond stitching on the Fine Nappa leather. The multifunction flat-bottomed RS steering wheel is also a nice feature. RS logos on the seats, steering wheel, door sill trims and the selector lever are complemented by special RS displays in the Audi virtual cockpit.

LED headlights, panoramic glass sunroof, quattro sport rear differential, RS sports exhaust system, and Dynamic Ride Control with adaptive dampers are all standard inclusions.

The all-new Audi RS5 coupe will be in Australian showrooms from December at a list price of $156,600 before on-road costs.
