Although there is still a month to go until 2017 reaches its conclusion, Skoda has set a new record for its new car sales breaking the 5000 sales in a calendar year mark.

With a total of 5026 new vehicles hitting the road so far in 2017, this surpasses the previous local record for Skoda set in 2016 when a total of 4760 new Skodas sold.

The big mover for Skoda is the Octavia range which has racked up 1787 sales year-to-date with 228 of those attributed alone to November sales, though this represents a 14 per cent decrease in sales since 2016. The Yeti also saw a 17.5 per cent decrease since 2016 though this model is in runout.

Recording a whopping 43 per cent increase in sales since 2016 was the Superb which translates to 925 sales compared to 647 last year. This is a bit of an anomaly since large passenger car sales are in decline.

Fabia sales have also been strong with 952 units YTD sold compared to only 778 last year which is a 22 per cent increase. The Rapid also posted a similar increase of 20 per cent with 415 vehicles sold YTD.

Whilst restricted supply has limited the numbers of the new Kodiaq SUV, 558 units have been sold which sets a healthy target to aim for in 2018.

Overall November saw 534 new Skoda vehicles sold.

Skoda’s improved sales performance isn’t just a result of an updated range, the move to a five-year warranty in January has opened the brand up to new customer base who would not have previously considered a Skoda.
