The update for the 2017 Nissan X-Trail has been announced and is offering a lot, new design, new technology and new equipment.

With Nissan recording disappointing sales in April, the 2017 X-Trail carries plenty of expectation. It will find things difficult with a new generation Mazda CX-5 and Volkswagen Tiguan already on sale, and a new Honda CR-V being close to launching.

“The X-TRAIL is one of Nissan’s best-selling models in Australia and, with more than 193,000 sold locally, its long-standing popularity proves it is the ideal SUV solution for families and adventurers,” said Richard Emery, Managing Director and CEO of Nissan in Australia. “For 2017 we have applied a variety of enhancements, including many of our latest Nissan Intelligent Mobility technologies and our latest exterior and interior styling, all of them designed to further broaden the appeal of this already-popular model.”

“The Nissan X-TRAIL is the ideal vehicle for families and adventures,” he said.

All model grades of the Nissan X-Trail are upgraded with new exterior elements such as new front fascia featuring the Nissan ‘V-motion’ grille, revised headlight design and LED signature DRLs. The rear now incorporates a newly designed bumper, modified rear combination lamps, as well as signature LED tail lights in a boomerang design.
The ST, TS and ST-L models get new 17-inch alloy wheels whilst the larger 19-inch alloy wheels are reserved for the Ti and TL models.

Three new colours join the lineup adorning the exterior in Marine Blue, Copper Blaze and Ruby Red.

Stepping inside will also see upgrades to the steering wheel, with a new D-shaped design with modified wheel-mounted controls, new shifter knob design and leather gearshift boot, new door vent finish and a redesigned centre console and lid with heated and cooled front centre console cup holders.

There is also a change from chrome to black for the door-mounted i-Key button.

Technology upgrades, for all models, include Intelligent Emergency Braking and Forward Collision Warning (FCW) which is a great inclusion on a car at this price point.

In the top grade Ti and TL models, technology and convenience features now include Intelligent Emergency Braking with pedestrian detection, Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFLS), Motion Activated Tailgate, heated steering wheel, heated rear seats and High Beam Assist.

The Ti exclusively gets Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) and Lane Departure Intervention whilst the ST-L, Ti and TL grades get Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA).

Adding to the 2.0-litre petrol four-cylinder engine and 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine is the new 2.0-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine. It comes with 130kW of power, a 35% increase, and 380Nm of torque, an 18% increase over the 1.6-litre turbo-diesel engine.

The new diesel is available exclusively with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and all-wheel drive, this drivetrain combination was previously unavailable and may open the 2017 X-Trail up to another buying group.

The 2017 Nissan X-Trail is on sale in Australia now.
