Suzuki Australia has announced changes to the 2018 Swift range, a manual version of the GL Navigator will now anchor the range taking the place of the GL manual as the entry point to the Swift line-up.

The change means that the base specification now includes 16-inch alloy wheels, daytime running lights, privacy glass rear-view camera and an infotainment system that includes satellite navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Powering the GL Navigator is the 1.2-litre DualJet engine that develops 66kW and 120Nm. In base form, it will be matched to a five-speed transmission.

As a result of the rejigged line-up, all Swift models will now carry a five-star ANCAP safety rating. For $1000, the Navigator can be optioned with an additional safety pack that brings autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control which gets it over the stripe.

While the order books will open in August, Suzuki expects the manual GL Navigator to arrive locally early in the fourth quarter of this year.

Pricing for the Swift GL Navigator in manual guise will start from $16,990 plus on-roads with drive-away pricing yet to be announced.
