Four months after being revealed, Australian specifications and pricing have been announced for the 2019 BMW M2 Competition range.

Australian buyers will have the option of two variants: Competition Pure and Competition. The M2 Competition will be available from October priced from $104,900 plus on-road costs whilst the M2 Competition Pure - an exclusive for the Australian market - will arrive early in 2019 with a slightly lower price of $99,900 plus on-road costs.

For the first time, the M2 model will be powered by the 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged engine from the M3 and M4, which pumps out 302kW of power and 550Nm of torque.

When equipped with a seven-speed M DCT dual-clutch transmission the M2 Competition takes 4.2 seconds to hit 0-100km/h from a standstill.

For the Australian market, both Competition and Competition Pure variants will offer a six-speed manual gearbox as a no-cost option.

The M2 Competition Pure, which isn’t due to arrive until 2019, features M sports seats with illuminated headrests and lumbar support, front park distance control and the M seatbelts.

Where the rubber meets the road the M2 Competition Pure sports 245/35 R 19 front and 265/35 R 19 rear tyres wrapped around 19-inch light alloy wheels.

There is also a HiFi Loudspeaker system, manually-adjustable M sport seats, Bi-LED headlights and remote central locking (instead of Comfort Access) on the M2 Competition Pure.

Moving to the M2 Competition, which will be available first, features include new ‘BMW M2 Competition’ sill plates, M2 logo on the backrest of the M sport seat (with moulded headrests) and black and blue stitching on the Dakota leather, electric adjustment and lumbar support as well as striped M seat belts.

Also featured on the M2 Competition is a new dashboard display which displays the M2 Competition logo when the red start/stop button is depressed.

Adaptive LED headlights will light the way with front and rear Park Distance Control to assist with squeezing into any parking spot. Driving Assistant, Speed Limit Info and a 12-speaker harman/kardon system with surround mode are also included.
