Hyundai Australia has announced specs and pricing for the tweaked 2020 Santa Fe SUV range headlined by the availability of a V6 petrol engine.

The 3.5-litre 206kW/336Nm V6 offers an additional 68kW and 95Nm over the superseded 2.4-litre four-cylinder petrol unit.

The V6 will be available in the Active, Elite and Highlander trim levels where it will be paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. Hyundai claims fuel consumption on the combined cycle is rated at 10.6L/100km.

All grades will also be offered with the current 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine that produces 147kW and 440Nm. It’s matched with an eight-speed automatic that sends power to the brand’s HTRAC all-wheel drive system.

Along with the new engine, all grades now get Rear Occupant Alert (ROA) which reminds drivers to check the rear seats before exiting the vehicle. Sensors sound the alarm if any movement is detected after the vehicle is locked. Previously only higher trim levels featured the tech.

The 2020 update also includes new 19-inch alloy wheels for the flagship Highlander model.
