Australia specs and pricing has been announced for the updated Lexus LC Coupe which arrives with a series of powertrain and suspension revisions.

Pricing starts from $194,747 plus on-road costs for the V8-powered LC500 and $195,165 plus on-roads for the hybrid LC500h.

The outputs remain the same with the LC500’s 5.0-litre V8 producing 351kW and 540Nm, while the LC500h offers 264kW, plus a maximum of 350Nm of torque from the petrol engine and 300Nm from the electric motor.

According to Lexus, the LC500's 10-speed automatic transmission features enhanced logic patterns to target gear upshifts at higher engine speeds when 60-70 per cent throttle is applied.

The CVT in the hybrid model is now able to downshift to second gear (previously third) when braking in Sport S and Sport S+ modes, the company says this provides more immediate acceleration out of a corner during spirited driving.

Other changes included a front lower control arm of the LC that is now produced from 1.65kg-lighter forged aluminium for improved steering feel, while the second front control arm gets an altered front rebound spring rate and an optimised stabiliser bar for a smoother ride.

The front and rear coil springs have been strengthened and the shock-absorber length for the standard Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) has been modified, with new control-software parameters for greater control.

Rear roll rigidity distribution has also been tweaked, making it easier for the driver to feel the vehicle's posture through corners. There’s also revised rear spring rates, a hollow stabiliser bar and 0.7kg-lighter 21-inch alloy wheels.

The 2020 model year LC also debuts a Yamaha developed performance damper that better absorbs twists and quells body vibrations during hard driving.

Active Cornering Assist (ACA), which utilises the vehicle stability control to provide subtle braking of the inside wheels during high-G cornering is now standard.

An updated version of the Lexus Dynamic Handling (LDH) system is part of the Enhancement Pack option, the new set-up features revised tuning of the front and rear-wheel steering to support high-speed stability and manoeuvrability at lower speeds.

On the inside, a steering-wheel heater is now standard along with an 'easy access' front seat slide function.

Carnelian and Khaki Metal become permanent additions to the exterior colour palette, while Flare Red with black and red trim and Manhattan Henge with black and sunset-coloured trim are offered for the cabin.
