Alfa Romeo has confirmed Australian specs and pricing for the Giulia GTA and GTAm ahead of a local arrival late this year.

Of the 500 units available globally, only 18 examples will make their way to Australia starting from $268,000 plus on-roads for the Giulia GTA and $288,000 plus on-roads for the Giulia GTAm.

First revealed last year, the Giulia GTA and GTAm are powered by the 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 from the Giulia Quadrifoglio, tuned to deliver 397kW of power (up from 375kW).

The press release doesn’t quote a torque figure, so the V6 is likely to produce 600Nm, the same number as the Quadrifoglio.

Both models use an eight-speed automatic transmission to drive the rear wheels.

Alfa Romeo claims the Giulia GTA can sprint from 0-100km/h in just 3.6 seconds.

The Giulia GTA is a proper four-door sedan while the GTAm (with the ‘m’ standing for Modificata) takes on a racing feel with a two-seat configuration approved for on-road use.

Attention has been given to the aerodynamics and handling of the new GTA. Alfa Romeo says increased downforce is achieved through the side skirts, a specific rear spoiler and an active front splitter.

A new Akrapovic titanium centre exhaust system, a carbon-fibre rear diffuser and 20-inch centre-lock wheels are also part of the package.

Up to 50mm wider front and rear wheel tracks, and new springs, shock absorbers and bushings for the suspension are attributed to improved handling.

Weight savings have been achieved through a carbon-fibre drive shaft, bonnet, roof, front bumper, front wheel arches and rear wheel arch inserts.

In the Giulia GTAm, the aerodynamic features have been tweaked with a larger front splitter and a real carbon rear wing.

Internally, the Giulia GTA gets Alcantara trim on the dashboard, door panels, glove compartment, side pillars and the centre of the seats. There are also new matte carbon trim inserts.

GTAm versions feature space to hold helmets and a fire extinguisher in place of the rear bench, a roll bar, no door cards, unique sports seats with six-point Sabelt safety belts and a belt in place of a traditional door handle.

The Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA and GTAm are available to order now with deliveries set to commence late in 2021.
