Despite only launching in Australia recently, the Land Rover Defender is getting an update for 2021.
Headlining the changes is a trio of inline six-cylinder Ingenium diesel engines that replace the four-cylinder units the brand offered when the car was launched.
The entry-level diesel is the D200 which produces 147kW and 500Nm, while the D250 develops 183kW of power and 570Nm of torque. The range-topping D300 is good for 220kW and 650Nm.
The D200 is only available in the three-door Defender 90 with the diesel Defender 110 range opening with the D250.
Petrol buyers haven’t been forgotten with an entry-level four-cylinder P300 engine supported by a 48V mild-hybrid system. It produces 221kW of power and 400Nm of torque.
Safety has also been beefed up for 2021 with blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, rear collision monitor, rear cross-traffic alert and a clear exit monitor now standard across the range.
The options list has also expanded to include four new colours, a folding fabric roof (Defender 110 only), a 3D surround-view camera, premium LED headlights, a Meridian sound system, a head-up display, and fog lights.
Buyers of S, SE and HSE grades can also option a new X-Dynamic package for $7500 that adds satin-finished bash plates, satin black recovery hooks, black alloy wheels, black mirror caps, illuminated metal tread plates and two-tone seats trimmed in ‘Robustek’.
The updated Defender range is available to order now with deliveries set to commence in February 2021.
