Toyota has continued a big year of concept car reveals by unveiling Future Toyota Adventure Concept (FT-AC) at the Los Angeles motor show.

The FT-AC provides some insight into the future of Toyota’s off-road vehicles. The concept has been designed to be a capable all-wheel-drive petrol or hybrid-powered lifestyle vehicle.

Tagged as a design experiment at this stage, the FT-AC looks to combine Toyota’s renowned off-road capability with digital connectivity. The FT-AC is equipped with an integrated Wi-Fi hotspot with removable infrared cameras located in the wing mirrors that allows owners to live stream their adventures or upload footage to cloud-based storage for real-time editing and posting via a mobile device.

"FT-AC is perfect for those outdoor enthusiasts who want to dial up the adventure on their weekend getaways," said Jack Hollis, group vice president and general manager, Toyota division (USA).

There are some very clever ideas incorporated into the FT-AC, the fog lights are removable and can double as a torch or mounted to bike handlebars.

Speaking of bikes, a retractable bike rack is integrated into the tailgate.

Despite the Prospect Green exterior with Fortress Grey accents, the concept has a very masculine look with extra-wide fender flares that sit above the 20-inch wheels and all-terrain tyres. There’s also twin recovery hooks and skid plates help protect the short front and rear overhangs.
