Jeep has announced that two new JK Wrangler limited editions, the Golden Eagle and Freedom, have been added to the line-up and are available to order now.

Reincarnating two blasts from the past, the Golden Eagle and Freedom bring a host of unique features with a hint of the originals.

Guillaume Drelon, Jeep Australia Brand Director, said, “With lineage that can be traced back to the legendary Willys Jeep – which were once produced here in Australia – these Wrangler heritage editions tie back to Jeep’s military origins with the 'Freedom Edition” and to one of the most popular special editions back in the 80s with the “Golden Eagle”.

“We are very excited to bring them to Australia and pay tribute to Jeep’s heritage with these two stylish and bold Limited Editions,” he added.

The Jeep Wrangler Golden Eagle, which will be based on the Jeep Wrangler Sport, will be limited to 120 Australian examples and have a starting price of $42,990 plus on-road costs.

A highlight for the Golden Eagle comes in the form of a special sticker, an iconic Eagle bonnet decal which covers the entire space available. Adding to the aesthetic is low gloss bronze 18-inch aluminium wheels, a premium tan Sunrider retro-style soft-top as well as the Command-Trac 4X4 system.

Other external features include deep-tinted sunscreen rear windows, body colour fender flares, body colour 3-piece hard top, black 7-slot Jeep grille with bronze accented grille throats and headlamp rings as well as rock rails.

Internally, similar to the Jeep Wrangler Sport, features include a 5-inch Uconnect touchscreen radio with Alpine speakers, black cloth interior trim with light bronze accent stitch, embroidered ‘Golden Eagle’ logo on the front seats, vinyl front door armrests and centre console lid with light bronze accent stitch, Mopar black all-weather slush mats as well as Moroccan Sun interior accents throughout the cabin.

Power will come from the 3.6-litre V6 engine found in the standard Wrangler which is mated to either a six-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission for the Golden Eagle. The Jeep Wrangler Freedom Edition will use the same engine but loses the manual transmission option.

Speaking of the Jeep Wrangler Freedom Edition, 150 Australian units are confirmed which are inspired by Jeep’s military heritage.

Throughout the vehicle, Oscar Mike logos can be found which represent the military phonetic alphabet with O and M, a common representation of ‘On-the-Move’.

Over and above the Jeep Wrangler Sport specification, the Jeep Wrangler Freedom edition gets 18-inch Granite Crystal painted alloy wheels, Granite Crystal painted 7-slot Jeep grille, Black grille throats and headlamp rings, body colour fender flares, rock rails, a premium black Sunrider soft top in place of the standard black Sunrider soft top and special badging as well as decals in the form of a Freedom Star on the bonnet and rear driver side quarter panel, green ‘Oscar Mike’ badge, black fender decal, green ‘trail rated’ badge and black ‘Jeep’ badge on the front grille.

Internally, features include black McKinley leather / vinyl / cloth interior trim with Silver accent stitch with an embossed ‘Oscar Mike’ logo and stitched ‘Jeep’ logo, vinyl front door armrests and centre console lid with Silver accent stitch, Iron Grey painted interior accents, Mopar black all-weather slush mats replacing carpeted floor mats as well as satin chrome painted steering wheel bezels.
