Starting this week the Mazda 3 range will be in showrooms around Australia sporting the glistening new Soul Red Crystal colour.

Debuting in Australia back in April on the new CX-5, Soul Red Crystal is another piece in Mazda’s ‘KODA: Soul of Motion’ philosophy. Colour is considered an important component of form.

Since its debut, the colour has quickly become a popular choice for Mazda customers with roughly 22 per cent of CX-5 buyers optioning Soul Red Crystal.

The colour itself is an advanced version of the Soul Red but with 20 per cent more colour saturation and 50 per cent more depth.

The Soul Red Crystal paint is applied in a three-layer structure having a clear, translucent and reflective coating composition. The translucent layer is what accounts for the highly saturated red pigment giving it a richer red appearance. The reflective coat, whilst extremely thin, uses light-absorbing aluminium flakes to enhance the depth of colour which was previously achieved with the use of two layers of paint.

Mazda Australia’s Director of Marketing, Alastair Doak, said “The roll out of Soul Red Crystal is characteristic of Mazda’s approach to constantly improving and enhancing the range. The new paint exudes an exuberance that honours the KODO design philosophies and a beauty that truly celebrates driving.”
