Two recalls have been issued this week, a familiar one from Mercedes-Benz and a new recall from VDC for Ford trucks.

Mercedes-Benz has again recalled a number of C-Class vehicles sold between May 8, 2016, and January 3, 2018.

An issue with the bonding of the rear window trim strips on each side has been identified which could result in the aluminium section of the trim strip detaching whilst driving causing a hazard to following traffic.

Mercedes-Benz is asking concerned customers to contact their nearest dealer to arrange an inspection and free repair if necessary. A list of VINs can be found here.

The other recall this week comes from Vehicle Development Corporation (VDC) for MY16-17 Ford F150 trucks which were sold between January 25, 2016, and November 14, 2017.

Incorrect tension of the electronic rack drive belt has been found to be an issue that could result in the belt fitted to the electronic steering rack pushing to one side. This could lead to premature wearing out of the belt which can affect the smoothness of the steering creating an uneven feel or too much play. A loss of power-assisted steering (not mechanical) could also increase the risk of an accident.

VDC will progressively roll out the recall throughout Australia by contacting known owners via mail or phone. Affected vehicles need to be fitted with replacement electronic steering racks and a list of VINs can be found here.

VDC advise that if owners experience any abnormalities with the steering they should stop driving the vehicle and call the VDC warranty team on (03) 93570208 (8am to 11pm) or 24-hour roadside assist on 13 11 11 quoting the VIN.
