The fifth-generation 2019 Toyota RAV4 will be revealed at the upcoming New York motor show.

The Japanese heavyweight is on a bit of a roll after the recent unveiling of the new Corolla hatch and confirming the Supra sports car will be revived.

Rumours are rife that the new RAV4 will borrow some styling cues from the Future Toyota Adventure Concept (FT-AC) that was shown at last year’s Los Angeles motor show.

Under the sheet metal, the new RAV4 will likely be built on the new latest Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform which currently underpins the C-HR and the new Camry.

New four-cylinder engines are expected including a hybrid option and updated transmissions.

The RAV4 remains an important model for Toyota Australia, last year it was the third biggest selling midsize SUV behind the Mazda CX-5 and Hyundai Tucson.

Car Conversation contacted Toyota Australia Product Public Relations Manager Orlando Rodriguez, who told us the new RAV4 is set for an Australian launch in 2019.
