Australian specifications and pricing for the 2018 Subaru Outback have been released, the new model year brings additional equipment, including new Vision Assist features and a starting price of $36,240 plus on-roads.

 

Exterior highlights for the 2018 Outback include a redesigned front bumper and grille, new LED high and low beam headlights with Steering Responsive Headlights (SRH) and Adaptive Driving Beam (Outback 2.5i Premium, 3.6R and 2.0D Premium only) technology, integrated LED Daytime Running Lights, wing mirrors with new LED indicators and fresh new wheel patterns with 17-inch alloy wheels for the 2.0D variant and 18-inch alloy wheels for the rest of the range.

 

Two new paint options in Crimson Red Pearl and Wilderness Green Metallic will also be available.

 

Inside the cabin, upgrades include a new sporty steering wheel, redesigned air vents, larger 8.0-inch head unit (for 2.5i Premium, 3.6R and 2.0D Premium variants) or 6.5-inch unit (2.5i and 2.0D) and a stitched detail added to the instrument panel. Two additional USB ports have also been added to the back of the centre console for rear seat passengers.

 

Safety inclusions come in the form of front and side view monitors, as well as the new third-generation EyeSight Driver Assist system, adding lane keep assist.

 

A new generation touchscreen infotainment system featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is also included.

 

Outback 2.5i Premium, 3.6R and 2.0D Premium variants get TomTom-powered satellite navigation.

 

Three engine options are available on the new 2018 Subaru Outback. Opening the range is a four-cylinder 2.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine capable of 129kW/235Nm matched with a CVT transmission. A six-cylinder 3.6-litre engine producing 191kW/350Nm is available for the 3.6 variants and rounding out the engine offerings is a four-cylinder 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel horizontally opposed Boxer engine producing 110kW/350Nm.

 

All Subaru Outback variants have achieved a 5-star ANCAP safety rating.
