SUV brand Haval has announced updates to the 2019 H9 range which now gets a greatly improved safety package.

For 2019, autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and lane departure warning have been added to the two model H9 range.

The extra safety kit doesn’t come with a price increase, the Lux and Ultra remain priced at $41,990 and $45,990 drive-away respectively.

Haval has also confirmed a seven-year, unlimited kilometre warranty with five years roadside assistance is now standard range-wide.

The Lux model gets tri-zone air conditioning, rain-sensing wipers, a sunroof, automatic xenon headlamps, electrochromatic rear-view mirror, rear-view camera, an Eaton locking rear differential, a BorgWarner transfer case and the brand’s all-terrain control system for off-road driving.

Stepping up to the Ultra variant adds Comfort-Tek eco-leather seats with heating, massage and ventilation function, a heated steering wheel, a panoramic sunroof, a 10-speaker Infinity sound system, electric folding third-row seats and adaptive front lighting that “looks” around corners.

Haval’s flagship model remains powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine which produces 180kW and 350Nm, it’s matched to an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels.

Braked towing capacity is still 2500kg while fuel consumption on the combined cycle is rated at 10.9L/100km.
