The Grand Cherokee range has expanded again with Jeep announcing a new Summit variant priced from $84,450 plus on-road costs.

Described by Jeep as the “most luxurious Grand Cherokee variant”, the Summit gets ‘NaturaPlus’ leather seats, a leather-wrapped instrument panel and centre armrest, a suede-like headliner and illuminated sill plates.

Further equipment highlights include a 19-speaker audio system, active noise cancellation, eight-way electric front seats, front and rear seat heating, ventilated front seats, remote engine start and a dual-pane sunroof.

On the outside, the Summit model is distinguished by 20-inch chrome wheels and the Platinum Package that includes chrome on the grille, front and rear bumpers, window surrounds, roof rails, tail lamp bezels, side sills, rear step pad and the exterior badging.

Safety kit mirrors the Grand Cherokee Overland, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, parking assist, adaptive cruise control, parking sensors and a rear-view camera are all standard.

Those wanting to add to the luxury theme can option the 'Signature Leather-Wrapped Interior Package' ($9950) which includes quilted leather seats and door cards, along with a leather-wrapped console and glovebox. There’s also a rear-seat Blu-Ray/DVD entertainment system ($2950).

Powering the Summit is the familiar 3.0-litre V6 EcoDiesel engine producing 184kW and 570Nm. It’s matched to an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels.
