Australians will be able to get their hands on a new 2019 Lexus RC coupe, with a tweaked design inspired by the LC500 before the end of the year.

The new Lexus RC takes exterior design cues from the svelte design language of the LC but also features upgraded tyres, suspension, engine response and steering feel.

Exterior design changes include a new front bumper corner, vertically arranged extra-small triple-LED headlamps and new L-shaped LED clearance lamps. Air ducts have also been added to the rear bumper corners and the rear combination lamps feature more pronounced L-shaped lenses. There will also be up to 11 exterior colour choices available.

The RC F Sport also gets an upgrade gaining the mesh pattern grille as well as 19-inch alloy wheels.

Internally, larger and higher knee pads leave more space and a new palm rest with stitching has been added. The analogue clock from the LC is also positioned at the top of the instrument panel and five types or ornamentation and seven interior colour combinations are also available.

Aimed at improving the driving experience, engineers have altered the throttle response of the turbocharged 2.0-litre engine.

A new fin shape on the side window mould and duct on the rear bumper also improve airflow around the vehicle, whilst new shock absorbers and stiffer suspension bushings improve the suspension system to provide a supple ride and improved handling.

Full specifications and pricing are expected to be announced closer to the updated RC’s Australian launch.
