Peugeot Australia has confirmed specification and pricing for its new Expert van range which will open at $36,490 plus on-road costs.

The Expert will be offered in standard- and long-body versions with three diesel engine options and depending on the model, a choice of manual and automatic transmissions.

All variants get autonomous emergency braking (low-speed), blind-spot monitoring, rear-view camera, a driver attention alert, front and rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, speed sign recognition, and high-beam assist. There are also front and side airbags. It’s a compelling safety list for a commercial vehicle.

Other equipment highlights include a 7.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Andriod Auto, rain-sensing wipers, one-touch electric windows, tinted windows, electrically folding wing mirrors and front fog lights.

Dimensionally, the standard Expert comes in at 4959mm long, 2204mm wide and 1935mm high. The longer versions stretch to 5309mm. Regardless of the variant, the wheelbase measures 3725mm.

The Load volume is rated at 5.3 cubic metres for the standard model, while the long body offers 6.1 cubic metres.

The base model is powered by a 1.6-litre 85kW/300Nm turbo-diesel which is matched to a six-speed manual that drives the front wheels. The claimed consumption on the combined cycle is 5.2L/100km.

When it comes to capacities, the 1.6-litre standard-length Expert offers a 1000kg payload and a maximum braked towing capacity of 1800kg. It should be noted, the gross vehicle mass (GVM) is 2660kg.

The larger 2.0-litre 110kW/370Nm turbo-diesel is available in both body lengths, it’s matched with either a six-speed manual or six-speed auto in the standard length, while the longer variant is paired exclusively with the automatic.

Depending on the body style, the mid-spec powertrain uses between 6.2-6.4L/100km. Carrying capacity increases to 1300kg, however, the braked towing limit drops to 1500kg. For those analysing the numbers, depending on the spec, the GVM sits between 2730kg and 3100kg.

At the top of the range is a 2.0-litre 130kW/400Nm turbo-diesel which is exclusively matched to a six-speed automatic and longer body. Its consumption is listed at 6.2L/100km on the combined cycle.

The payload comes in at 1250kg, while the towing capacity is rated at 2200kg. The flagship offers a GVM of 3000kg.
