The updated 2019 Range Rover Sport line-up will arrive in Australia before year’s end with a new engine option, more technology and a starting price of $96,728 plus on-road costs.

Due to arrive Down Under in the fourth quarter of 2018, the updated Range Rover Sport will have the option of a new 3.0-litre SDV6 twin-turbo diesel engine, capable of 183kW and 600Nm. It brings an additional 6kW and 100Nm over the outgoing 2.0-litre SD4 engine.

An eight-speed automatic transmission will complete the drivetrain.

The extra power cuts 0.4 seconds off the official 0 to 100km/h time, from a standstill, the Sport can hit triple figures in 7.9 seconds.

So far, three diesel engines, a 5.0-litre supercharged petrol V8 and the P400e plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) are all confirmed for the new model year.

Also included in the 2019 model year is adaptive cruise control with stop & go, steering assist and high-speed emergency braking.

Nick Collins, Vehicle Line Director, Jaguar Land Rover, said: “The latest enhancements to the Range Rover Sport build on its credentials as the luxury performance SUV. With a more efficient powertrain line-up, improved safety technology and state-of-the-art lighting features, this is a vehicle that demands to be driven.”

The 2019 Range Rover Sport can be ordered now priced from $96,728 plus on-road costs with the first deliveries expected before the end of the year.
