Renault has announced specifications and pricing for the 2019 Captur SUV range, the big news is the addition of the 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine which is available with automatic variants.

Both the Zen and Intens models feature the new 1.3-litre engine which develops 110kW of power and 250Nm of torque, the latter at 1600rpm. This engine was first seen in last year’s Intens S-Edition and replaces the 1.2-litre engine previously found in the Captur range. When compared to the outgoing engine, the new unit offers an extra 22kW and 60Nm.

The new engine is mated with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission whilst the existing 66kW/135Nm engine is carried over and mated with the manual transmission in Zen spec.

Equipping the new engine to deliver better performance are a collection of changes which includes a delta cylinder head shape, bore spray coating, a new variable valve timing with rocker arm system as well as high-pressure direct injection.

For 2019, the Captur Zen also benefits from a multimedia system update to allow both manual and automatic variants to offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Captur Zen auto models also include a rear-view camera with rear parking sensors, cruise control, 16-inch alloy wheels and two-tone body colour.

Top-of-the-line Intens variants get a fixed glass roof, LED headlights, 17-inch alloy wheels, tougher body add-ons, a chrome grille, privacy glass and parking sensors.

Inside, there's leather trim, a higher-end audio system, hands-off parking and blind-spot monitoring.

Renault Captur vehicles with the new engine have already made their way to Australian shores and are priced from $27,490 drive-away.
