BMW has revealed the M2 CS ahead of an Australian arrival in mid-2020.
Billed as a limited-run, special-edition version of the M2 Competition the M2 CS uses a 3.0-litre turbocharged six-cylinder in-line petrol engine tuned to produce 331kW and 550Nm, a 29kW upgrade over the Competition variant.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox as standard. The seven-speed M double-clutch transmission is available as an option.
When equipped with the stick shifter BMW claims the 0-100km/h dash takes 4.2 seconds, while cars with the automatic can do it in 4.0 seconds. Regardless of the transmission, the top speed is electronically-limited to 280km/h.
Standard equipment includes adaptive M suspension, M Sport brakes with red calipers, an active M differential, a dual-branch exhaust system with four stainless steel tailpipes, and 19-inch forged wheels finished in a high-gloss black wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres.
M Carbon ceramic brakes are optional, as are 19-inch forged wheels with a matte gold finish.
The exterior is distinguished by a new front splitter, Gurney spoiler lip on the boot lid, a rear diffuser in exposed carbon-fibre, a new carbon-fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) bonnet, and the exclusive Misano Blue metallic paint finish.
On the inside, buyers get bucket-style M Sport seats from the M4 CS trimmed in Merino leather/Alcantara with integral head restraints featuring M stripes.
Australian specifications and pricing for the M2 CS will be announced closer to the local launch in mid-2020.
