Ford Australia has confirmed specifications and pricing for the new Fiesta ST ahead of a local launch in the first quarter of 2020.
For the first time, local buyers will be offered the Fiesta ST as a five-door hatch priced from $31,990 plus on-road costs.
Power now comes from a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine producing 147kW and 290Nm, it’s exclusively matched to a six-speed manual gearbox that drives the front wheels. Ford claims the 0-100km/h sprint takes 6.5 seconds.
Selectable Drive Modes feature on the Fiesta ST for the first time, enabling engine, steering and stability controls to be configured to Normal, Sport and Track settings, shifting the vehicle’s character to match the driving situation.
Ford is talking up the ST’s practicality, the new generation’s wheelbase comes in at 2493mm while the overall length has increased by 93mm to 4068mm which has lifted the cargo capacity to 311L, up 21L when compared to the previous model.
Keyless entry with push-button start, launch control, a Quaife mechanical limited-slip differential, a bi-modal exhaust with an electronic sound enhancer, torque vectoring, a unique suspension tune, LED headlights and tail-lights, power-folding side mirrors and 18-inch alloy wheels shod with 205/40 Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres are all included as standard.
On the inside, buyers get Recaro seats covered in leather and suede, a flat-bottomed steering wheel, an ST gear shifter, a premium B&O Play 10-speaker audio system, a 4.2-inch digital driver display and an 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with digital radio, sat-nav Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Standard safety kit includes autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, traffic sign recognition, automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers, a rear-view camera and tyre pressure monitoring.
Exterior colour options include Performance Blue, Frozen White, Magnetic, Moondust Silver, Race Red, Shadow Black and Silver Fox,
The 2020 Fiesta ST is available to order now with deliveries set to commence in the first quarter of 2020.
