Specs and pricing have been announced for the 2020 Hyundai Ioniq which will continue to be offered with hybrid, plug-in hybrid and fully-electric powertrains.

Exterior changes for 2020 are minor and consist of a restyled grille, front and rear bumpers, alloy wheels and LED head- and tail-lights depending on the grade.

There are more substantial changes on the inside with a restyled dash, a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, a redesigned control panel for the climate control and a new instrument cluster with a 7.0-inch digital driver information display.

The petrol-electric hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains are carried over for the new model year, while electric variants get an upgraded 38.3kWh lithium-polymer battery pack and electric motor that produces 110kW and 295Nm.

According to the WLTP cycle, the larger battery offers up to 311km of electric driving range.

For context, the outgoing car uses a 28kWh battery to achieve a 230km range.

The on-board charger has jumped from 6.6kW to 7.2kW for Type 2 AC charging. Using a 100kW fast-charging station, the battery can reach 80 per cent charge in 54 minutes.

Each powertrain option will be available in two trim levels: Elite and Premium. Scroll down for a full rundown of each grade’s equipment highlights.

The extra kit comes at a cost, hybrid variants have had prices increased by between $800 and $1000, while the electric models are nearly $4000 more expensive.
